Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in collaboration with 42 Abu Dhabi and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has launched AI Summer Programs for Abu Dhabi students to offer them hands-on AI learning experiences to evolve problem-solving skills and acquire future-ready skills.

ADEK's strong partnerships focus on innovation and future readiness and the three distinct AI Summer Programs are designed for 2,400 students in grades nine to 12 from public, private, and charter schools. They provide a comprehensive understanding of next-generation AI, including the basics of generative AI, real-life applications with a focus on ethics, new AI concept development, and career path exploration.

"We are committed to preparing a generation ready for the evolving AI landscape. The AI Summer Programs will empower young minds to drive meaningful global change," ADEK Undersecretary Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri was quoted as saying by WAM.

"By partnering with world-leading institutions like 42 Abu Dhabi and MBZUAI, we ensure Abu Dhabi's youth receive best-in-class AI training," he added.

In generative AI and prompt engineering bootcamps, students work with their peers to create innovative solutions. These bootcamps are available in two formats over 4 weeks to suit different learning styles.

A full-day bootcamp - held in 6 schools across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra - offers an intensive experience. It provides in-depth insights and practical skills in Generative AI and Prompt Engineering. This includes advanced techniques like fine-tuning language models with specific prompts to improve output quality and relevance. Students participate in three training sessions in one day, getting hands-on experience with beginner-friendly AI tools.

Aside from this, a two-hour session offers Emirati students a customized learning experience covering AI basics, exploring real-life applications, and involving interactive group exercises.

The session is held in collaboration with Majalis Abu Dhabi at the Citizens and Community Affairs Office of the Presidential Court in 28 locations across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra.

The collaboration also provides another unique opportunity of a five-day summer program at MBZUAI, one of the world's first AI research universities. This program is for grade 11 students and covers different AI applications such as film production, generative AI (GenAI), responsible AI, and a sustainability research project. MBZUAI's faculty, alumni, students, and staff lead the workshops.
