A new master plan for Expo City Dubai has been approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to support Dubai's future development and enhance its global reputation.

Covering 3.5 square kilometers, Expo City Dubai will accommodate over 35,000 residents and 40,000 professionals as it evolves into a global center for businesses, investors, homeowners, and visitors.

The master plan includes a new global headquarters for DP World, a major player in international trade and one of the UAE's leading organizations. It also features the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), which is crucial for Dubai's economic growth and a key entry point to the city. DEC recently announced plans to expand its current venue.

The new master plan was approved in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

"A decade ago, we paved the way for a new city to rise within Dubai – one that would host the world, drive innovation and sustainability, and propel the UAE into a new era of prosperity," Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was quoted as saying by WAM.

"Together, as a community, we have been on a remarkable journey, and today we reveal a new chapter in our long-term vision to advance our ambitions," he added.

The plan highlights Expo City Dubai's important role in driving progress in different areas as it is the site of the historic 2020 World Expo and COP28. The expansion plans for Expo City Dubai will make it central to Dubai's growth and create many investment opportunities for forward-thinking businesses.

Its close location to Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) makes it a key player in boosting Dubai's growth in important sectors like trade and logistics, technology and innovation, tourism, and business events.

The new master plan positions Expo City Dubai as a center for pioneers, entrepreneurs, and investors, attracting innovators, educators, and students, the prime minister said, noting that it aims to create a lively and supportive community for both residents and visitors. Expo City Dubai will serve as a global hub at the center of the city's growth, reflecting the vision for the future.

The plan emphasizes sustainable development, improving the quality of life for everyone, and creating an environment where businesses can succeed. It also aims to honor Dubai's rich heritage while embracing the many opportunities that lie ahead.

Earlier this week, the UAE launched the second edition of the Great Arab Minds initiative, with a total prize pool of AED 6 million. This program will award AED 1 million to the winner in each category, honoring six recipients.
