Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi has announced several new projects in Kalba, including the "Kalba Gate" project, a museum showcasing heritage, customs, traditions, and folk songs, and a park around the flood-damaged Khor Kalba Fort.

Al Qasimi also revealed plans for an environmental, archaeological, and heritage tourism program that focuses on Kalba's unique qualities, Khaleej Times reported.

Highlighting the ongoing work on the "Kalba Gate" project, the Sharjah ruler noted that the pathway will connect the hanging gardens with Al Hefaiyah Lake, with railings for safety, offering views of the gardens, the lake, and the city.

Moreover, a moon-shaped project called Ghamam ("above the clouds") will be built 850 meters above sea level on Jebel Deem. This two-story structure will feature a restaurant, an open café, and a reading room while the ground floor houses viewing platforms, a multipurpose hall, and a prayer room, providing views of the mountains, valley, and coast.

Over 4,500 olive, pomegranate, grape, and apple trees have been planted to turn the mountains green. The emirate is also planning a football stadium for Kalba Club, to be built 850 feet above sea level to reduce humidity for players, resulting in temperatures about 10℃ cooler.

Previously, the Sharjah Ruler established the Sharjah Communication Technologies Free Zone in Kalba to support entrepreneurs and companies in the industry with connections to regional and international partners.

It offers training and growth opportunities to develop local expertise. With its prime location and modern facilities, the zone aims to attract investments in artificial intelligence, communication technologies, and data centers.

In May, Al Qasimi announced plans to establish eight new nurseries in four different locations in the emirate, including three in Sharjah, two in Kalba, two in Khorfakkan, and one in Dibba Al Hisn.

Furthermore, the ruler also announced the expansion of existing nurseries in the central region. Currently, 11 nurseries inside schools will be replaced with central kitchens to provide nutritious meals for the children in the nurseries.

Al Qasimi said that government nurseries in Sharjah are very affordable, costing just AED 800 per month for high-quality services. There are over 33 nurseries in the emirate, but the demand is increasing.
