The UAE has issued a statement denouncing the recent terror attack in Jerusalem. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MpFAIC) reiterated its condemnation of such attacks and constant rejection of all forms of extremist acts seeking to terrorize and destabilize the region "in contravention of human values and principles."

The ministry also extended its deepest condolences to the Israeli government and its people, as well as to the families of the victims of the mass shooting. It also wished for the fast recovery of the victims who survived the attack.

The attack took place Friday at a synagogue in Jerusalem following an attack launched by Israeli forces in Jenin on Thursday that had left at least nine Palestinians dead. Following the incident, Israel said its troops attacked to capture Islamic Jihad "terror operatives" planning "major attacks" in the occupied West Bank. However, the Palestinian presidency accused the forces of carrying out a "massacre" and later announced it had terminated coordination with Israel on security matters.

The raid drew international condemnation, with the UAE, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia issuing statements to condemn the attack and call out Israel.

Meanwhile, authorities described the terrorist attack in Jerusalem as "one of the worst terror attacks in the past few years." Police reports revealed a Palestinian gunman carried out the attack outside a synagogue in the Israeli capital, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries. The attack further escalated tensions between Israel and Palestine following the West Bank raid.

In a statement following the attack, the police said, "A terrorist arrived at a synagogue in the Neve Yaakov boulevard in Jerusalem and proceeded to shoot at a number of people in the area. Seven innocent people were slaughtered."

The police added that "at the end of a shootout and a chase between the police and the terrorist, the terrorist was neutralized and later pronounced dead."

"As a result of the shooting attack, the death of 7 civilians was determined and 3 others were injured with additional degrees of injury," the police continued.

The gunman was later identified as a 21-year-old Palestinian residing in the east of Jerusalem.
