Bolt, a global leader in ride-hailing services operating in over 600 cities across 50 countries, launched its services in the UAE on Dec. 2, coinciding with the country's Eid Al Etihad celebrations. This timing highlights the country's dedication to progress, unity, and offering high-quality services to residents and visitors.

The launch of Bolt on this significant occasion further emphasizes the company's commitment to aligning with the UAE's vision for progress and innovation, WAM reported.

The company aims to provide premium and eco-friendly transportation services. By entering the UAE market, Bolt supports Dubai's plan to shift 80% of taxi rides to e-hailing in the future. With the Bolt app, users can conveniently book rides, track their drivers, and pay using smartphones.

Bolt is a European transport company headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. It was founded in 2013.

Mansoor Alfalasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Company, expressed his satisfaction with Bolt's successful launch after its announcement in October, emphasizing that Dubai's high number of visitors creates a strong demand for transportation.

Bolt's arrival provides an additional option for the community, making travel across the UAE more convenient and accessible through a range of mobility solutions, including cars, taxis, and micro-mobility services.

"The initial fleet will consist of limousines listed by reputed fleet partners on the Bolt platform including DTC vehicles. The fleet is set to meet Dubai's rising demand by offering affordable and luxury transport options," Alfalasi said.

"The next phase of expansion will include the introduction of taxi services on the app, creating a versatile and sustainable mobility ecosystem in Dubai. The vision is to ultimately explore the potential of expanding to other emirates and across varied verticals which include delivery services, e-scooters and car rentals in the near future," he added.

Eduard Suchánek, Regional Manager for the Middle East and North Africa, highlighted that Bolt's launch in the UAE during the 53rd Eid Al Etihad reflects the company's dedication to supporting the country's focus on progress and innovation.

This launch marks an important step in Bolt's expansion in the Middle East, following its success in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Dubai's strategic location and global appeal make it a prime market for Bolt to meet the growing demand for transportation services.
