The UAE Ministry of Interior is all set to host the WeProtect Global Summit in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 4 and 5, bringing together global leaders, decision-makers, and experts to discuss and address technological trends affecting the fight against child exploitation and online abuse.

This will be the second time the UAE will host the summit, after the 2015 edition. The UAE has also participated in all previous summits, showing its commitment to supporting global efforts for international cooperation and the well-being of humanity.

Hosting the event again shows the UAE's global standing and the respect and appreciation it has earned from countries, organizations, and people worldwide.

Lt. Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzouqi said that by co-hosting the WeProtect Global Summit, the UAE is reaffirming its strong commitment to promoting international cooperation in the fight against online child exploitation, WAM reported.

The UAE acknowledges the urgent need for a united global effort to protect children from harm and is proud to provide a platform for leaders, experts, and innovators to collaborate on effective solutions.

Iain Drennan, Executive Director of WeProtect Global Alliance, said that child sexual exploitation and abuse online is preventable, not inevitable.

He further said that the summit aims to take real action and find solutions to stop these serious crimes, which are growing rapidly and becoming more complex. As technology advances, the risks to children also increase, but it is also an opportunity to use innovation to protect them.

The summit brings together world leaders, civil society, tech companies, and the voices of children, young people, and survivors to tackle this issue. The goal is to explore technological advancements and their impact on children, to create a safer digital future where all children and future generations are free from exploitation and abuse.

WeProtect Global Alliance and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will share the initial findings of research on the effects of responding to online child sexual exploitation and abuse.

This research covers the impact on the health, well-being, and work of those involved, including the risks and protective factors related to their jobs. The findings will include recommendations to improve work practices, build resilience, and increase staff retention.

The summit will also feature professionals who can share their personal experiences regarding the impact of this work.
