Sharjah Cyber Security Centre Signs MoU With Fortinet To Boost Emirate's Cybersecurity Capabilities

The Sharjah Cyber Security Centre — operating under the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) — has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Fortinet Inc., a leading cybersecurity company based in the United States, to improve cybersecurity across the emirate.
This partnership aims to boost cooperation in information and communications technology (ICT) security and help build stronger national capabilities to deal with cyber threats, WAM reported.
The MoU sets out a framework for collaboration across multiple areas of cybersecurity. Key objectives include enhancing national coordination, advancing legal and regulatory frameworks, and supporting law enforcement and judicial efforts in the prevention, detection, and response to cybercrimes.
Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director-General of the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD), stressed that the agreement with Fortinet supports the department's strategic goals and highlights its dedication to enhancing Sharjah's digital preparedness.
He pointed out that having a strong cybersecurity foundation is crucial to protecting the emirate's digital progress and ensuring sustainable development over the long term. He also highlighted that creating a secure and reliable digital space is central to the SDD's mission of leading Sharjah's digital transformation.
By joining forces with top international cybersecurity firms like Fortinet, the emirate aims to boost its ability to respond to threats, encourage innovation, and deliver smart, user-friendly government services that improve the overall quality of life.
Abdelnasir Obaid BuKhatir, Director of the Sharjah Cyber Security Center, said that the partnership with Fortinet represents an important step in strengthening Sharjah's cybersecurity framework.
BuKhatir noted that working with global leaders allows the emirate to improve performance, increase readiness, and ensure that its digital transformation in government services remains secure and future-focused.
A Fortinet representative said the company is proud to formalize this partnership, which paves the way for broad collaboration with the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre.
The spokesperson also pointed out that working with forward-thinking government bodies like the Sharjah Cyber Security Center reflects Fortinet's commitment to helping create a safe digital space—one that encourages innovation and supports long-term economic growth in the region.
