The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) has pledged AED 36.7 million (USD 10 million) to support sustainable projects and programs organized by UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency.

These efforts aim to assist forcibly displaced communities. Since 2021, MBRGI's total contributions to UNHCR have reached AED 163.6 million. The latest pledge was confirmed through a cooperation agreement signed between MBRGI and UNHCR at the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Switzerland.

The agreement highlights MBRGI's dedication to providing strategic humanitarian aid by supporting sustainable initiatives that improve the lives of refugees and displaced people, WAM reported.

MBRGI's Assistant Secretary General Saeed Al Eter and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi signed the agreement in the presence of MBRGI's Secretary General Mohammad Al Gergawi.

This agreement reflects MBRGI's ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of refugees and displaced communities worldwide. It also highlights their dedication to supporting international efforts in this field.

"This pledge to support sustainable projects for refugees and displaced communities reflects the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai," Al Gergawi said.

"His Highness has emphasized the vital need to support vulnerable communities worldwide, offering assistance to alleviate suffering, empower individuals, and instill hope. This initiative embodies the UAE's founding principles of generosity and noble values," he added.

Al Gergawi emphasized that MBRGI's collaboration with UNHCR aligns with its strategy of building strong partnerships with UN humanitarian organizations. The initiative aims to support efforts to reduce suffering and empower needy communities.

MBRGI remains dedicated to making a meaningful impact on millions of lives and plans to continue strengthening these partnerships to support the UN's humanitarian mission.

Grandi expressed gratitude for MBRGI's ongoing support and highlighted the important role it plays in helping the UN Refugee Agency assist vulnerable and forcibly displaced communities.

The partnership between UNHCR and MBRGI is vital for ensuring sustainable support for displaced communities worldwide. With the growing challenges of forced displacement and increased demand for essentials like food and medicine, such collaborations are more important than ever.

Al Gergawi and Grandi discussed strengthening their partnership, focusing on better supporting displaced communities by addressing critical needs and improving living conditions.

Since 2021, MBRGI has contributed significantly to helping over 700,000 displaced people across 13 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Syria, and Nigeria. Its proactive agenda at the World Economic Forum in Davos emphasizes advancing international humanitarian cooperation and sustainable solutions for vulnerable populations.

MBRGI operates across five pillars: Humanitarian Aid, Healthcare, Education, Innovation, and Community Empowerment. In 2023, it allocated AED 1.8 billion, benefiting over 111 million people in 105 countries.
