The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Bahrain are reportedly working together to implement a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that focuses on strengthening cooperation in industrial development.

Teams from both the countries recently met to discuss how to put the MoU, designed to enhance collaboration and economic opportunities between the UAE and Sharjah, into action. The discussion also included their aim to create links between the UAE's National In-Country Value (ICV) Program and Bahrain's Takamul Value Program in Industry.

Bahrain's Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the UAE's Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) signed the agreement in January, allowing the industrial sector to apply for the UAE's National ICV Program, WAM reported.

Once certified under UAE standards through approved agencies, these companies can participate in tenders for federal government projects in the former nation.

Emirati companies in the industrial sector will also benefit from Bahrain's Takamul Program. They can receive a 10% preference if they complete the qualification process. To apply, they need to use the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's online portal.

Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said, "The deep-rooted, fraternal ties between the UAE and Bahrain, as guided by the visionary leadership of both nations, serve as a model for regional integration and cooperation," WAM reported.

"This strategic partnership is poised to elevate private sector growth, competitiveness, and contribution to sustainable economic development across key industries, including advanced technology."

He said that the collaboration between the UAE's National ICV Program and Bahrain's Takamul Program was an important step in strengthening the partnership between the two nations.

The initiative focused on industrial integration and sustainable growth, aiming to make supply chains in both countries more resilient and sustainable. It also included producing high-quality goods locally to reduce dependence on imports, promote self-sufficiency, and support long-term economic growth.

Al Jaber also expressed confidence that this initiative will boost the competitiveness and growth of private sector companies in both countries, increasing their role in sustainable economic development.

Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro praised the strong and long-standing relationship between Bahrain and the UAE and the close ties between their people.

Adel Fakhro highlighted the importance of such initiatives in strengthening strategic partnerships and achieving closer integration between the two nations. He noted that these efforts will enhance cooperation, bringing greater prosperity and growth to both countries and their citizens.

He also acknowledged that such initiatives align with the vision and guidance of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
