UAE's national railway network company, Etihad Rail, wrapped up the first-ever Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference (Global Rail) 2024 with 10 MoUs and agreements with international companies specializing in railways, transport, and infrastructure.

These deals aim to shape the future of transport and infrastructure.

The Global Rail 2024, held under the theme of "Setting Transport Infrastructure and Global Connectivity in Motion," was supported by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and the Chairman of Etihad Rail.

Etihad Rail signed MoUs and agreements at Global Rail 2024, including:

  • Presight AI Technologies LLC: Partnership to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for smarter and more efficient rail operations.
  • RITES Ltd.: Collaboration to share expertise in railway development, including rolling stock supply and project management.
  • KNR and KORAIL: Joint efforts in railway construction, project management, and knowledge sharing with Korea National Railway (KNR) and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL).
  • Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ): Knowledge exchange in rail planning, construction, and technology to explore opportunities in intermobility, high-speed rail and sustainable railway practices.
  • L&T Technology Services Limited: Plan to establish a National Mobility Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi for sustainable transport solutions.
  • IronLev: Exploring magnetic levitation technology for faster, smoother rail operations.
  • Nevomo: Partnership for autonomous rail solutions using Magrail Booster Technology.
  • Hitachi Rail: Enhancing communication, cybersecurity and smart mobility for future passenger services.
  • SBS Transit: Collaboration to apply AI and mobility solutions to improve rail infrastructure.

The conference included discussions focused on making real changes in the transport and infrastructure sectors in the country. Over 80 panel sessions took place, featuring more than 150 speakers from around the world, including leaders in transport, finance, technology, and mobility.

The talks addressed practical issues related to financing and innovation, looking for ways to create integrated transport systems that benefit everyone, WAM reported.

The event also included an International Projects Pavilion, showcasing global railway operators, developers, and industry leaders. Furthermore, there was an Innovation Hub designed to support rail entrepreneurs and experts in research and development.

This hub provided a platform for them to display new technologies, innovative digital solutions, and groundbreaking advancements that could transform the transport and logistics sectors.
