  • The move is expected to support at least 170,000 beneficiaries in the private and banking sectors
  • It is also expected to pave the way for new partnerships over the next five years
  • It also raises the value of temporary financial support for those who have lost their jobs in the private sector

The UAE has announced an increase in the salary of Emirati private-sector workers.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, made the announcement Wednesday, following directions from President Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, the National News reported, quoted state news agency Wam.

The move is in line with the UAE's efforts to integrate locals into the private and banking sectors' workforce, including allowances and monetary incentives for UAE nationals. It is also expected to foster partnerships over the next five years and provide financial backing to at least 170,000 beneficiaries in the private and banking sectors.

The increase covers all employees in both the private and banking sectors to expand the Emirati Salary Support Scheme aimed at funding the recruitment and training costs of locals in the private sector.

Under this development, the monthly allowances will be increased to a maximum of Dh7,000 for bachelor's degree holders, Dh6,000 for diploma holders, and Dh5,000 for high school graduates or less. It also raises the value of temporary financial support for those who have lost their jobs in the private sector.

The program applies to all employees regardless of the date of their employment and whether they were hired before or after the launch of the Nafes Program on Sept. 13, 2021. It aims to support Emirati nationals to pursue their professional careers in the private sector.

"There is no doubt that raising the levels of Emiratization will reflect positively on the national economy and will bring great benefits to the private sector in particular, as it will have higher levels of flexibility and greater opportunities to face global and local challenges," Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, said as per the outlet.

"We are on the threshold of a new phase that raises the competitiveness of the business environment by increasing the contribution of Emirati cadres in writing new chapters of the UAE success story. In the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, we will directly monitor the impact of supportive programs on accelerating the integration of Emirati cadres into the labor market in the private sector, which is an active partner in the process of progress and development," he added.
