UAE Unveils Vision For Expo 2025 Osaka Pavilion With Theme 'Earth To Ether'

The United Arab Emirates has revealed the full plan for its national pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, which will take place in Japan from April 13 to Oct. 13.
Under the theme "Earth to Ether," the pavilion, located in the Empowering Lives Zone, will showcase how the UAE is connecting tradition with technology and imagination to shape the future. It will highlight the country's journey from its cultural roots to a future focused on innovation and exploration, WAM reported.
The announcement was made during a media briefing held by the National Media Office. Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State and Commissioner of the UAE Expo Office, said the UAE's participation in World Expos reflects its dedication to global dialogue, collaboration, and shared progress.
She highlighted that the expos were more than one-time events -- they were opportunities to promote the UAE's values, build partnerships, support sustainability, and encourage cultural exchange.
Al Kaabi also noted that returning to Japan 55 years after the UAE's first expo marked a continuation of its long-standing commitment to creating a more connected and inclusive global future.
She also said the UAE's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai will focus on the youth. The pavilion will feature 24 Emirati youth ambassadors and 20 Japanese youth fluent in multiple languages, ensuring the UAE's message reaches a global audience effectively.
Al Kaabi said the pavilion will highlight inspiring stories of young Emirati innovators, aiming to build connections with Japanese visitors and promote collaboration.
UAE Ambassador to Japan, Shihab Al Faheem, added that the UAE Pavilion reflected the country's forward-thinking approach and commitment to resilience, openness, and global cooperation for shared progress.
To lead the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025, the UAE Expo Office appointed Mariam Al Memari and Shaikha Al Ketbi as Deputy Commissioners, working with Al Faheem to share the UAE's vision of innovation and collaboration.
The pavilion's design blends Emirati and Japanese creativity. Inspired by the date palm and traditional areesh architecture, it uses palm waste and expert Japanese woodworking. Its standout feature is a forest of 90 columns up to 16 meters tall, symbolizing sustainability and shared creativity.
During the six-month Expo 2025 in Osaka, the UAE Pavilion will host over 40 public events focused on learning, innovation, and collaboration. Programs will cover sustainable tech, healthcare, youth empowerment, space, and Expo's thematic weeks. Each activity highlights how the UAE blends tradition with innovation.
A key highlight will be the celebration of UAE National Day, which will feature cultural showcases, performances, and leadership moments. Official partners of the UAE Pavilion include ADNOC, PureHealth, Space42, and the Department of Culture and Tourism.
