E& UAE Tests 6GHz and 600MHz, Hits 10Gbps And Extends 5G Coverage Beyond 6 Km

UAE state-owned telecommunications company, e& UAE has successfully tested two new spectrum bands — 6GHz and 600MHz — recently approved for mobile use by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
Using 6GHz technology along with other frequency bands, e& UAE reached download speeds of up to 10 Gbps with a commercial-grade home device. The test also showed that the 600MHz band can extend 5G coverage to more than 6 kilometers, WAM reported.
These tests are a major step forward in boosting 5G performance across the UAE, offering faster speeds and wider coverage for both homes and businesses, and supporting the country's growing digital economy.
"Our customers rely on us for fast, dependable connectivity, and these tests show how we are shaping the future of 5G wireless in the UAE," Acting Chief Technology Officer at e& UAE Marwan Bin Shakar said.
"By achieving 10 Gbps with 6GHz being a key driver and 5G coverage beyond 6 km on 600MHz with commercial equipment, we are not just setting technical benchmarks—we are paving the way for 5G-Advanced, the future of 6G, and a smarter, more connected UAE," he added.
e& UAE is using commercial-grade customer equipment to bring these new spectrum bands into real-world use, boosting the power of its existing 5G network. This move supports the UAE's growing reputation as a global leader in advanced wireless technology.
For customers who already enjoy gigabit-speed fibre internet, the 6GHz band will allow for smooth 8K streaming, fast downloads, and virtual reality experiences with no lag.
Meanwhile, the 600MHz band will improve 5G coverage in crowded cities and far-off areas, offering steady internet for work, entertainment, and staying connected, even beyond 6 km from the tower. For businesses, the tests mean that high-speed fibre-like internet can now be delivered over 5G.
The 6GHz band is ideal for handling cloud systems, smart devices, and AI tools, while the 600MHz band ensures wide and stable coverage for things like smart factories and smart cities. Together, they help companies work faster, scale up easily, and improve efficiency.
TDRA's 2024 spectrum allocation is helping the UAE lead in 5G development. The 6GHz band offers high-speed internet in busy city areas, while the 600MHz band provides wide coverage and strong indoor signals.
These upgrades will support smart cities, industrial automation, and the country's digital growth. According to GSMA Intelligence, 5G could add over US$610 billion to the global economy by 2030, with mid-band spectrum like 6GHz responsible for nearly 65% of this impact.
This shows how important strategic spectrum use is for maximizing 5G's economic benefits. The UAE's tests of 6GHz and 600MHz bands show how both will boost the local economy and prepare the country for future technologies like 5G-Advanced and 6G.
By combining C-band, 6GHz, and 600MHz, e& UAE is building a strong, future-ready 5G network that supports smart innovations, business growth, and reliable nationwide connectivity.
