Dubai Awards Contract To Build 5 New Community Neighborhood Councils Across Key Areas

Dubai Municipality, working with the Community Development Authority, has awarded a contract to build five new community neighborhood councils. These will be set up in Nad Al Sheba II, Al Awir II, Al Barsha South I, Al Warqa II, and Hatta.
The project is part of the "Year of Community" initiative for 2025, which focuses on bringing families and communities closer together. It also supports the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aims to improve the well-being of Emirati families, promote national values, and build a strong and inclusive society.
The five new neighborhood councils will follow a single architectural style that blends modern design with Emirati traditions. The Hatta council will have a unique design to match the area's heritage and natural surroundings, WAM reported.
Each council will span about 1,256 square meters, with a total project area of 6,280 square meters. Facilities will include a multi-use hall, a daily-use majlis, prayer halls for men and women, a reception, staff offices, storage, kitchens, and restrooms.
Construction of the councils in Al Barsha South I, Al Warqa II, Nad Al Sheba II, and Al Awir II is expected to finish by the end of 2025. The Hatta council will be completed by mid-2026.
Dubai Municipality continues to develop projects that enhance the quality of life, support community connections, and strengthen the city's appeal as a great place to live and work.
Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, the head of the Community Development Authority, said these neighborhood councils reflect the spirit of unity and togetherness in Dubai. "These spaces bring community members together in environments that support dialogue, preserve heritage, and reflect the UAE's cultural identity," she added.
"As part of our role in supervising neighborhood councils, we are committed to evolving these facilities in line with the needs of residents, ensuring they contribute to national identity and foster meaningful engagement through a variety of activities and events," Buhumaid said.
She further said that building new neighborhood councils is an important move to improve social services in residential areas. She explained that the expansion supports the leadership's goal of creating a more connected and empowered community.
The new councils will help meet the needs of a growing population and expanding cities, while also making sure all neighborhoods have access to high-quality services.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Acting Director-General of Dubai Municipality, called the project a strategic step that fits with the vision of Dubai's leadership. He said these councils are key to meeting the changing needs of citizens and providing facilities that support a good and happy life.
The spaces will also help bring communities together, encourage the younger generation to follow Emirati traditions, and provide places for people to talk, share ideas, and connect.
