Sharjah Ruler Allocates AED2.5 Million To Enrich Emirate's Libraries With New Publications

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has allocated AED 2.5 million to supply public and government libraries across the emirate with new books from Arabic and international publishers at the 16th Sharjah Children's Reading Festival.
This move reflects his ongoing commitment to making libraries centers for knowledge and skill development. It also supports the publishing industry and provides children with a wide range of modern educational and reading materials, WAM reported.
The initiative helps build a strong reading culture in Sharjah by encouraging research and knowledge sharing. The grant also shows Sharjah's commitment to making libraries places for cultural exchange and learning, emphasizing that investing in books is investing in people and the future.
"His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, through his initiative to allocate AED2.5 million to support the emirate's libraries, has invested in human development and the advancement of knowledge," said Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA).
"This initiative goes beyond supporting Sharjah's libraries, and serves as a catalyst for the publishing sector regionally and globally, while also contributing to strengthening this vital industry and ensuring its sustainability," she added.
She explained that the grant provides new opportunities for young readers to explore, learn, and innovate. Supporting the publishing industry is important because publishers bring fresh ideas and content to the community.
Sheikha Bodour further thanked his highness' leadership as Sharjah is turning its libraries into lively centers for knowledge, conversation, and creativity, showing that progress starts with books and the ideas they inspire in young minds.
