The World Governments Summit Organization (WGSO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the 'Ambassadors Retreat' on Sunday, gathering more than 100 ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in the UAE. The event aimed to explore best practices for enhancing international cooperation with the goal of shaping future governments.

The event was designed to support the World Governments Summit's (WGS) goal to encourage collaboration and open discussions on global issues while creating innovative solutions for various challenges.

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the WGSO; Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future and Vice-Chair of the WGSO; and Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications and Vice-Chair of the WGSO were in attendance at the event.

The UAE government officials, ambassadors, and diplomatic mission representatives were also present at the event.

Al Gergawi noted that the "World Governments Summit embodies the visions and directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to build bridges of communication between countries with the aim of achieving common goals," WAM reported.

"It further translates the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to promote constructive cooperation and partnerships, enhancing dialogue channels and global communication to shape the future of governments for the good of all societies worldwide," he added.

Speaking at the event, Al Olama praised UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his vision as he established this platform in 2012.

He further shared that in the previous edition of the WGS, the focus was on building strategic partnerships among governments, international organizations, and private sector innovators.

The event featured over 790 speakers discussing important topics such as the future of artificial intelligence, emerging economies, and global finance. It also included 15 forums, 21 high-level roundtables, and 14 additional side events, the minister recalled.

Al Olama said the WGS released 39 strategic reports in collaboration with knowledge partners, think tanks, academic institutions, and research organizations. These reports explored global trends and offered effective strategies for developing innovative government models.

He said that the next edition of the summit will be held from Feb. 11 to 13, which will cover topics such as good governance, finance and economics, managing crises, building capacity, preparing for health challenges, and looking ahead to the future.
