Saudi airline "Flynas" has been now added to the list of airlines with regular flights to and from Sharjah in the UAE. Sharjah Airport welcomed the first flights of Flynas on Monday.

Flynas will now operate seven weekly flights from Jeddah to Sharjah Airport and two weekly flights from Madinah to Sharjah using its Boeing 737 aircraft, WAM reported.

This new airline addition will help expand Sharjah Airport's international connections and support the growing number of passengers and air cargo, thanks to the high-quality and efficient services provided.

The Flynas flight inauguration at Sharjah Airport was attended by Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), Flynas' Sales Director for Saudi Arabia Sultan Al Khaldi and Flynas' Regional Manager for the GCC Syed Mazharuddin, along with several other officials.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of SAA, expressed pride in welcoming Flynas to the list of airlines at Sharjah Airport. He noted that the airport is following a long-term plan to strengthen its role in the travel and aviation sectors by expanding its services and facilities.

This includes an ongoing expansion project aimed at increasing the airport's capacity to 25 million passengers annually by the end of 2027.

Al Midfa also mentioned that the growth of travel and airlines using Sharjah Airport will boost Sharjah's reputation as a major tourism destination. The city has become an international hub for tourism and business, attracting visitors from the Gulf, the Arab world, and beyond.

He pointed out that tourism, travel, and cargo between the UAE and Saudi Arabia are growing rapidly. This growth is driven by the wide range of tourism and recreational options in both countries, their hosting of major international events, and the strong economic and trade ties that support business and investment.

Furthermore, pilgrimage and Umrah trips to Saudi Arabia contribute to this increase.

Earlier this year, DP World and Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) started the construction of a logistics park worth $250 million (SAR900 million) at Jeddah Islamic Port.

The new construction, consisting of a 415,000-square-meter greenfield facility, will provide state-of-the-art storage and distribution facilities and help increase trade in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the other regions.
