UAE Prime Minister Meets IMF Head To Discuss Economic Stability, Sustainable Development

UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva met during the World Governments Summit 2025 to discuss economic stability and sustainable development.
The meeting focused on global economic trends and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), WAM reported.
Georgieva praised the UAE for its role in supporting the global economy and financial stability. She expressed hope for continued collaboration to tackle economic challenges and promote global prosperity.
She appreciated the opportunity to participate in the World Governments Summit 2025, recognizing it as an important platform for discussing the future of the global economy. She also commended the UAE's leadership in organizing the event, which brings together experts and decision-makers to find innovative solutions for governments.
During the meeting, Mohammed bin Rashid underlined the importance of international cooperation in tackling economic challenges, highlighting the ongoing summit as a key platform where global leaders and experts share knowledge to help build a strong and sustainable global economy.
He also praised international organizations, especially the IMF, for their role in shaping financial policies that promote stability and growth worldwide. Mohammed bin Rashid reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting the global economy by adopting innovative policies and encouraging sustainable growth.
World Governments Summit 2025 is being held in Dubai from Feb. 11 to 13 under the theme "Shaping Future Governments." Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was also present at the meeting, alongside several key officials.
The event hosts over 30 heads of state and government, more than 80 international and regional organizations, and 140 government delegations.
The event includes 21 global forums on key future trends, over 200 interactive sessions featuring 300+ speakers—such as presidents, ministers, and experts—and more than 30 ministerial meetings and roundtables attended by 400+ ministers. Furthermore, 30 strategic reports will be released in collaboration with international knowledge partners.
In 2023, when the UAE was hosting COP28, Georgieva praised the Arab nation for hosting the event, demonstrating the region's "commitment to climate resilience and building a better future."
