  • Professionals, outstanding students, and skilled workers can obtain a UAE Golden Visa

The UAE has unveiled an online quiz that helps users check if they are eligible for a Golden Visa.

The 2-minute quiz, which can be accessed on the official website of the Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship, includes 17 questions about the quiz taker's investments in the UAE, university degree, creative achievements, humanitarian work, job role in the country and contribution to its economy.

The new online tool comes amid the reforms recently announced for visas in the country. These reforms include updates on the eligibility requirements for the UAE Golden Visa and long-term visit visas to enable more people to access them.

Once completed, the quiz tells the user whether he/ she is eligible to apply for a Golden Visa. It also tells exactly which category he/she should apply for based on the answers provided in the quiz.

For instance, if the user is a CEO with five years experience in the UAE, the quiz will suggest he apply for the "residence entry permit for persons who are talented." Meanwhile, a property owner in the UAE may apply for the "residence entry permit for real estate investors."

Many expatriates in the UAE set their sights on obtaining a Golden Visa because of its benefits. The UAE Golden Visa is valid for 10 years and is not tied to employment, unlike a work visa. This long-term residency visa does not require sponsorship from an employer, and allows investors and talented foreigners to extend their stay in the UAE beyond the typical six-month limit with their spouse and children.

Golden Visa holders can sponsor their children until the age of 25, an increase from the previous rule of 18 years. The new rules also allow children of determination to be granted a residence permit in the UAE, regardless of their age.

With the new regulations in place, investors, entrepreneurs, talents, scientists, professionals, outstanding students, graduates, humanitarian pioneers, and frontline heroes are now eligible for a 10-year residence in the UAE. This expansion enables more professionals and skilled workers with educational qualifications and professional background in a wide range of disciplines — including law, engineering, information technology, education, business, and social sciences — to qualify for a Golden Visa.
