The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and Amazon UAE joined hands to launch the "DET x Amazon Accelerator" program to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai.

This program will ensure that SMEs can grow and become more competitive internationally by providing them with advanced digital tools, resources, and mentorship. Additionally, the initiative aims to speed up their digital development and help them reach a global audience, WAM reported.

The new "DET x Amazon Accelerator" program is built on Amazon's 25 years of global experience and focuses on five main areas to help SMEs grow online and reach more customers:

  • Global Reach: Use of Amazon's global platform to expand their business beyond the UAE and reach new markets.
  • Digital Upskilling: Amazon UAE will provide workshops to teach SMEs how to use Amazon's tools and strategies to succeed quickly on Amazon.ae.
  • Tailored Expertise: These businesses will get personalized help from Amazon's experts to make the most of services like account setup, product listings, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), advertising, and the Brand Registry.
  • Enhanced Visibility: SMEs will gain more visibility through Amazon UAE's "Shop Local" page and get special exposure during major sales events to connect with millions of customers who prioritize buying from local sellers.
  • Marketing Support: The business will receive Amazon Ads credits to run marketing campaigns and reach a larger audience.

The agreement was signed by Hadi Badri, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), and Jasmin Frick, Director of Seller Success at Amazon MENA in presence of Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye.

The program is part of the larger Dubai Traders initiative, one of 10 key projects announced by UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as part of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33.

The Dubai Traders program aims to strengthen the emirate as a top center for entrepreneurship and SME growth by partnering with leading private companies and digital solution providers. It will help small businesses build a strong online presence, improve supply chain management, grow in online retail, and reach international customers.
