Dubai Municipality on Wednesday introduced the "Safe Water for a Healthy Community" initiative in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA), focusing on improving water quality in senior citizens' homes and villas.

The initiative supported the UAE's goal for 2025 as the Year of the Community, aimed at promoting a strong, supportive, and sustainable society.

This includes technical checks, lab testing, and community involvement to reduce the risk of water contamination, while also improving services, WAM reported.

The program aims to create a safer environment by taking proactive steps to enhance water quality, protect public health, and support Dubai's long-term health sustainability.

In the first phase of the initiative, 42 homes and villas in 10 different areas across Dubai will be inspected to ensure water system safety and compliance with international standards.

Specialist engineering teams will conduct field inspections, collecting water samples for testing at Dubai Central Laboratory. If any risks are found, they will be addressed with the help of water treatment experts.

Acting CEO of the Environment, Health, and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, Naseem Mohammed Rafee, highlighted the initiative's focus on improving community health and preventive care.

Naseem emphasized the need for regular household water testing to ensure water remains free of harmful chemicals and bacteria. Maintaining high water quality standards helps reduce the risk of diseases caused by contaminated water, protecting public health.

Director of the Senior Citizens Department at the Community Development Authority Muhannad Saeed explained that the initiative was part of the authority's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for senior citizens.

Access to safe water at home was essential for their health and daily comfort. The collaboration with Dubai Municipality aimed to create a safe and sustainable environment for senior citizens by ensuring household water systems meet the highest quality standards.

In addition to improving water safety, the initiative focuses on raising awareness about regular maintenance and water quality checks. This helps strengthen preventive measures, reduce health risks, and enhance the overall well-being of senior citizens.

These joint efforts aim to create a supportive environment that ensures their comfort, stability, and long-term health.
