Dubai's Night Beaches Attract 1.5 Million Visitors In 18 Months
Dubai's night-swimming beaches like Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 attracted about 1.5 million visitors since opening in 2023.
Ibrahim Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department at Dubai Municipality, said the high visitor numbers show the success of the project, which was designed to provide a unique tourism and entertainment experience, WAM reported.
Spanning 800 meters, these beaches show Dubai Municipality's dedication to improving public beaches with services and facilities that focus on comfort, luxury, and a high quality of life for both tourists and residents. This initiative is part of Dubai's broader plan to develop its public beaches.
Dubai Municipality introduced several measures to provide integrated services at the night-swimming beaches. Electronic screens display educational and awareness content, and advanced lighting systems ensure safe swimming at any time of day or night.
A team of qualified rescuers is stationed at the beaches, including an operations manager, an assistant operations manager, three rescue supervisors, and 16 trained lifeguards. The team is equipped with modern rescue tools and beach bicycles to meet all safety requirements and protect visitors.
Dubai Municipality set specific hours for night swimming, from sunset to sunrise, making Dubai a unique destination in the region. The municipality manages water canals and public beaches throughout the emirate.
Its main goals are to improve the city's infrastructure and provide services and amenities that enhance the well-being and happiness of both residents and visitors. Through these efforts, Dubai Municipality offers a special recreational experience along the city's beaches.
According to Juma, this initiative allows both residents and tourists to enjoy the beauty of Dubai's beaches at night while ensuring comfort, luxury, and a high quality of life. It is part of Dubai's efforts to become a global leader in quality of life and a top international tourist destination.
Juma also highlighted that Dubai Municipality has made the night-swimming beaches accessible for people of determination and senior citizens.
These beaches are equipped with floating chairs for swimming, trained rescue teams, and a fully equipped rest area designed for their needs, all in line with the "Dubai Universal Design Code." Furthermore, safety and security features have been improved to ensure a safe experience for all visitors.
