Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre Partners With MBRF To Boost Youth Cultural Engagement, Training
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF). This partnership aims to boost collaboration in diverse cultural and intellectual areas, creating new opportunities to promote youth involvement in cultural activities.
As part of the agreement, the Foundation will provide specialized training programs for ALC members, created in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to improve skills and capabilities.
The agreement was signed at the Arabian Days Festival by the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, and CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, Jamal bin Huwaireb.
"This collaboration represents a step forward in the promotion of culture and knowledge in the UAE and across the Arab world," Tamim was quoted as saying by WAM. "Enhancing the position of the Arabic language and empowering it to achieve its rightful global status as a modern and intellectual language requires collective efforts to present a comprehensive vision for enriching the cultural landscape and inspiring creativity."
He stated that this partnership aligns with the Centre's goal to continuously improve Arabic content and support young talent in writing and creative fields. This helps inspire future generations to become passionate readers of Arabic literature, arts, and sciences.
Bin Huwaireb, on the other hand, said that empowering individuals and improving their skills are key to achieving human development and advancing knowledge in all areas. He added that the partnership with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre is an important step toward these goals.
"... It enables us to further focus on developing Emirati human resources, fostering collaboration in areas such as translation and intellectual creativity, and supporting digital and print Arabic content. This, in turn, contributes to building communities capable of adapting to change and achieving excellence and leadership," he added.
Bin Huwaireb further said that the partnership shows their mutual commitment to making the Arabic language a key tool for cultural and intellectual exchange. "It allows for expanding the impact of initiatives such as 'Bil Arabi' and the Digital Knowledge Centre, enriching the local and global knowledge landscape, and reinforcing the presence of Arabic as a key pillar in shaping identity and fostering sustainable creativity."
Last year, ALC collaborated with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London to host a cultural retreat titled "Translation: Literature and Technology."
