Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, officially opened GITEX GLOBAL 2024 on Monday. The 44th edition of the event will see more than 6,500 exhibitors in attendance.

The world's largest and most well-known tech and startup event, being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from Oct. 14 to 18, will also feature 1,800 startups, 1,200 investors and government representatives from over 180 countries.

This year's GITEX GLOBAL 2024, with the theme "Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy," offers a unique platform for making new connections, launching innovative solutions, creating international partnerships, and promoting AI-powered global socio-economic transformation.

Designed to help late-stage advanced tech companies grow quickly, the event will connect 59 leading unicorn companies, with a total value of $400 billion, including Axelera, DeepL, Insilico Medicine, and Synthesis AI.

"GITEX GLOBAL holds esteemed international status as an inclusive, influential, and impactful event that inspires innovative practice, technological exploration, and digital transformation across industries," Ahmed bin Saeed said while addressing the delegates and distinguished guests, WAM reported.

"As we welcome the global technology community to the UAE for the 44th consecutive year, GITEX GLOBAL 2024 embodies the UAE's unwavering commitment to global digital economy leadership," he added.

Ahmed bin Saeed highlighted the key role of GITEX GLOBAL in advancing technology that drives progress, supports entrepreneurship, and improves lives both in the UAE and worldwide.

He further said that the event is not only a platform for innovation and collaboration, but also a driving force for building a future focused on empowerment, opportunities, and sustainability.

The event began with Tech Investment Day, kicking off a five-day program. On the first day, sessions focused on the latest trends in tech investment, showcasing how they are shaping global wealth and creating new business opportunities.

The World Future Economy Digital Leaders Summit will be a key highlight on Tech Investment Day. With AI expected to add up to $13 trillion to the global economy by 2030, this event will help guide AI-driven economic changes, addressing challenges and opportunities related to partnerships, policies, and investments.

AI Everything will also host important discussions about the future role of AI in society and industry. Top global AI experts will explore real-world examples of how AI is used in government, businesses, and startups.

They will discuss the importance of quickly turning AI ideas into action, while balancing technology with creativity and human intuition. Spanning over 10 halls, AI Everything brings together 3,500 companies to showcase cutting-edge AI technologies.

Major tech companies like Adobe, Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Builder Ai, Dell, G42, Google, Honeywell, Huawei, IBM, Lenovo, Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, Presight, Salesforce, SAS, and many more will be present.
