The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has introduced a new AED 100 banknote made of polymer, featuring modern designs and enhanced security features. This banknote is part of the CBUAE's Third Issuance of the National Currency Project.

The design of the new banknote highlights the UAE's growth, showcasing cultural and economic symbols that reflect its evolution into a leading global trade and business hub, WAM reported.

Equipped with advanced security features, the new AED 100 banknote is designed to prevent counterfeiting and boost public trust. It incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS and a multi-colored security chip, KINEGRAM COLORS.

Crafted from polymer, the banknote is more durable and environmentally friendly than traditional paper notes, lasting at least twice as long. To assist visually impaired individuals, the design includes raised symbols in Braille for easy identification.

The new AED100 banknote has a unique design with different shades of red while keeping the same color as the previous version for easy recognition. It also includes the UAE nation brand, with detailed drawings and inscriptions made using advanced printing technology.

On the front, the banknote features the Um Al Quwain National Fort, a historic and cultural landmark that connects the past with the present. The back showcases the Port of Fujairah, one of the UAE's largest ports and a key center for shipping and maritime transport.

It also highlights the Etihad Rail, a railway network linking all seven Emirates and extending to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This rail system plays an important role in strengthening social connections and promoting sustainable economic growth.

"The new 100 dirham banknote reflects our commitment to the leadership's vision for a sustainable future through initiatives and achievements that support Net Zero and enhance the nation's financial competitiveness," CBUAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama said.

"Its design embodies the country's ambitious aspirations for future progress and prosperity while honoring its historical and cultural heritage. We are pleased to announce this special issue in conjunction with the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations," he added.

The new banknote will enter circulation alongside the existing AED100 note starting Monday. Banks and exchange houses have been instructed to update their cash deposit machines and counting devices to accept the new banknotes along with the current paper and polymer notes, which remain legally valid.
