Dubai secured the eighth spot globally and the first in the Middle East in the 2024 Global Power City Index (GPCI) for the second consecutive year.

The Global Power City Index (GPCI) ranks major cities worldwide based on their ability to attract people, investment, and businesses. The index evaluates cities in six key areas: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility, providing a well-rounded ranking of each city's global influence.

The annual study, conducted by Japan's Mori Memorial Foundation, highlighted Dubai's leadership in innovation, economic growth, and global connectivity. As the only Middle Eastern city in the top 10, this achievement reinforces Dubai's status as a leading global hub for business, talent, and investment.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, emphasized that Dubai's success is driven by its focus on innovation, sustainability, and talent development, WAM reported.

The city has established itself as a global hub where businesses can thrive, creative ideas can flourish, and people can achieve their goals while enjoying a high quality of life, Sheikh Hamdan said, adding that this accomplishment reflects the leadership's vision and the collective efforts of individuals dedicated to excellence.

The Crown Prince emphasized that Dubai's success is driven by its world-class infrastructure, which continues to attract global investment and top talent. He also pointed out the city's flexible and forward-thinking laws, which support innovation and keep up with changing global trends.

He highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between the public and private sectors, which have fostered a thriving environment for collaboration and growth. Sheikh Hamdan added that Dubai's high ranking on global indices shows the city is not just keeping up with the world but is setting new standards of excellence.

"We remain steadfast in our efforts to consolidate Dubai's global status as a city of the future. By embracing strategic innovation and maintaining a strong commitment to excellence, we are creating new opportunities across industries," Sheikh Hamdan added.

Dubai continues to focus on improving quality of life and creating economic opportunities, which helps it attract top talent, businesses, and investors from around the world. As one of the fastest-growing cities in the index, Dubai is setting new standards for urban innovation, connectivity, and resilience.
