M42, a global health champion formed after the merger of Mubadala Health and G42 Healthcare, and Royal Medical Services (RMS) of Bahrain, have announced a strategic alliance.

As part of the partnership, M42 formally signed its first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RMS to provide world-class heart and lung transplant surgical procedures for patients in Bahrain.

The alliance marks a key point in reshaping the future of healthcare in the region and facilitates collaboration between the UAE and Bahrain for better medical outcomes, WAM reported.

The partnership aims to improve healthcare accessibility and quality across borders, with a focus on knowledge exchange and complex medical care. This move aligns with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi's (DoH) efforts to establish the Emirates as a leading healthcare hub, especially in organ donation and transplantation.

This partnership is part of the "Hayat" National Program for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation. It highlights Abu Dhabi's expertise in organ transplantation, backed by its advanced medical infrastructure, skilled healthcare professionals, and top-quality healthcare facilities.

This move further strengthens Abu Dhabi's reputation as a global healthcare leader.

Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of Royal Medical Services, spoke about the strategic partnership, highlighting the strong cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain to improve healthcare access and outcomes for their communities.

He expressed pride in partnering with M42, emphasizing the shared commitment to medical excellence and innovation. He believes the combined expertise of M42 and the resources of RMS will notably benefit people in need, improving healthcare across the region.

M42 Managing Director and CEO Hasan Jasem Al Nowais also discussed the importance of the strategic alliance, mentioning that M42 is focused on forming partnerships to transform the future of healthcare and create global change.

He pointed out that by working with RMS Bahrain, M42 aims to provide life-saving transplant procedures and personalized care for the people of Bahrain, setting a new standard for healthcare in the region.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the first and only multi-organ transplant center in the UAE, has completed over 774 transplants since it opened in 2017, with 241 performed in 2024 alone.

Last month, the clinic successfully carried out the UAE's first robotic bilateral kidney transplant from a deceased donor, marking a major achievement for the region's healthcare sector.
