The Emirates Safer Internet Society (eSafe) introduced STOGOCOMP, the UAE's first open competition for artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. It is open to all school students between the ages of nine and 19.
Students from both public and private schools will take part in the competition in its first edition. They will use this platform to come up with solutions that can help improve the well-being of children in schools, WAM reported.
STOGOCOMP encourages students to think creatively, explore new ideas, and develop innovative solutions. It helps them improve their skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths (STEAM) while learning more about AI and robotics.
The Emirates Safer Internet Society and the Robotics Automation Society, both non-government organizations, have partnered to organize this important competition. It will take place at the University of Dubai with technical support from Tachyon 360.
Abdulla Mohamed Al Mehyas, Chairman of eSafe, said that the competition is a major initiative for eSafe. It is supported by Disney Company and organized in collaboration with the Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and the University of Dubai, which will host the final ceremony.
He expressed hope that STOGOCOMP will encourage students in the UAE to contribute to the country's goal of becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence.
Eesa Mohammed Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, said that the university is proud to host STOGOCOMP. He highlighted that the competition supports the university's goal of promoting innovation and academic excellence.
He called the event an important step in preparing young students with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in the digital world, and added that the university looks forward to supporting students as they explore the potential of AI and robotics to enhance the well-being of children in schools.
"STOGOCOMP provides an excellent platform for students to contribute innovative ideas that make a real impact," the Robotics and Automation Society President Dr. Saeed Al Dhaheri said.
Aside from this, the UAE announced earlier this week that Abu Dhabi will host the Ai Everything Global Summit & Expo 2026, which will strengthen the country's goal of becoming a top global hub for AI innovation.
