WhatsApp Launches 'List' Feature In UAE To Organize Chats

Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp has introduced its new "List" feature for users in the UAE to help them organize chats more efficiently.
With this update, received on Friday morning, users can now sort their conversations into custom categories called Lists, making it easier to find important messages. To use the feature, users can tap the "+" button on the filter bar at the top of their chats to get started, Gulf News reported.
WhatsApp's 'List' Feature Helps Users Organize Chats Efficiently
According to WhatsApp, this feature allows people to organize their chats based on different groups, such as family, friends, work, and neighbors, helping them access important conversations quickly.
WhatsApp users can create a list by entering a name and selecting which conversations to add. Both group chats and individual chats can be included in these lists. If users have multiple lists, they can scroll horizontally on the filter bar to view them all.
The feature allows users to organize their chats by creating and labeling lists for specific conversations, such as those with family or work colleagues. These lists will appear at the top of the chat inbox, next to the existing filters like "All," "Unread," and "Groups."
WhatsApp first introduced these features in early 2024. The List feature was initially rolled out to WhatsApp users in the U.S. in November 2023. In addition, WhatsApp launched a feature last year to make event planning easier on the app.
However, this new update has not yet been introduced in the U.S.
Meta Expands AI Presence with WhatsApp Integration and Upcoming Standalone App
Meta introduced the "Meta AI" feature for WhatsApp users in the UAE last month. The tech giant plans to launch a standalone Meta AI app in the second quarter of this year.
People familiar with the matter said this move is part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg's goal to make Meta a leader in artificial intelligence by the end of the year, surpassing competitors like OpenAI and Alphabet.
These sources remained anonymous as the project is confidential. Meta first launched its AI chatbot in September 2023, promoting it as a digital assistant powered by generative AI. The chatbot can respond to user queries and generate images within Meta's apps.
Last year in April, the company integrated Meta AI more prominently into its platforms by replacing the search feature on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger with the chatbot.
