Abu Dhabi Aviation, Archer Aviation Partner To Launch Global Midnight Air Taxi Fleet

Abu Dhabi Aviation Group (ADA) and Archer Aviation have signed an agreement to introduce the first fleet of Midnight electric air taxis worldwide. This initiative is part of Archer's "Launch Edition," which began in Abu Dhabi in partnership with ADA.
Archer will provide aircraft alongside supplying ADA with skilled pilots, technicians, and engineers to help with the initial setup, ensuring a smooth and safe launch. In addition, Archer plans to introduce a software system, including a booking app, to support urban air mobility operations.
The project, starting this year, aims to set up an initial fleet with the support of the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to ensure the safe operation of air taxi services in the region, WAM reported.
Archer aims to change urban travel by reducing long car commutes of 60 to 90 minutes to just 10 to 20 minutes using electric air taxis. These flights are designed to be safe, eco-friendly, and quiet.
The Midnight aircraft, developed by Archer, is a piloted air taxi that can carry four passengers. It is designed for quick turnaround times, allowing it to complete multiple flights with minimal charging breaks in between.
Both companies will work together to create a structured plan for launching Midnight air taxis in early markets. Their goal is to develop operational expertise, generate revenue, and expand demand for these innovative aircraft.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Nader Al Hammadi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Aviation, and Badr Al Olama, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). During the event, Abu Dhabi Aviation announced its plan to fund the Midnight air taxis, becoming the first operator of electric air taxis in the region.
Al Hammadi shared that Abu Dhabi Aviation has followed eVTOL technology advancements for years and is proud to collaborate with Archer to introduce this innovation in the UAE.
As the largest helicopter operator in the Middle East, the company aims to use its expertise to develop a scalable urban air mobility service. He expressed enthusiasm about leading the launch of electric air taxis in the region, starting in Abu Dhabi.
Adam Goldstein, the founder of Archer, described the Launch Edition as a major step in bringing the Midnight aircraft from production to its first customers.
He emphasized that this approach will serve as a model for expanding operations globally. He also thanked Abu Dhabi Aviation for being the first customer of the Launch Edition and highlighted the significant milestones ahead.
