MoHRE, Global Leaders Discuss Economic Shifts, Outline AI Opportunities, Impact On Labor Market

Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in partnership with the World Governments Summit Organisation, hosted the second Future of Work Forum during the World Governments Summit 2025.
During the event, experts discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing work patterns, productivity, and economic trends. Another key topic was the role of academic institutions in preparing skilled workers for the job market, along with other important workforce-related issues.
The forum included six sessions where participants shared ideas on building a future workplace focused on innovation and sustainability. Discussions covered different ways to set wage policies and how they affect economic growth and productivity, WAM reported.
The event brought together Ministers of Labour and Human Resources, policymakers, economic experts, and business leaders from different countries.
Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized that the Future of Work Forum is an important platform for analyzing global labor market trends amid economic and technological changes.
He highlighted that the forum allows participants to share experiences, address challenges, and explore opportunities to shape the future workforce.
He also outlined the UAE's labor market policies and future preparations, stressing the country's focus on digital advancements, rapid progress, and a diversified, technology-driven economy aligned with the leadership's vision.
The first session, held in partnership with the Executive Bureau of the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour, focused on minimum wage laws and their economic impact. Experts shared insights from the UAE, Qatar, Singapore, and Germany.
The second session examined how wage policies affect business competitiveness and analyzed the relationship between inflation and wages. The third session explored the role of AI in labor-intensive sectors, highlighting its impact on government frameworks and business adaptation in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The fourth session discussed the future of work, emphasizing the rise of freelancing and part-time jobs, AI's role in reshaping labor markets, and the need for balanced regulations that ensure both economic flexibility and worker protection.
The fifth session focused on university partnerships and their role in building a knowledge-based economy and supporting sustainable development. It highlighted ways to improve education and job opportunities by strengthening collaboration between universities and the private sector.
The discussion also emphasized the need for educational institutions to adapt to emerging industries to meet labor market demands quickly. The final session explored labor market flexibility, addressing key factors influencing workforce adaptability and economic growth.
