The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), in partnership with Lulu Retail, started a national initiative to promote products made in the UAE.

This initiative is part of the "Make it in the Emirates" campaign and will involve Lulu stores across the country highlighting and selling local products.

Lulu stores will feature special shelves dedicated to products made in the UAE throughout December, coinciding with the UAE's 53rd National Day. Lulu will promote 53 local products each week, WAM reported.

The store will also offer discounts and extra points through the Lulu Happiness loyalty program. This initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier between MoIAT and Lulu Retail.

The MoU supports the "Make it in the Emirates" campaign, which aims to boost local industries and create more sustainable supply chains. The MoU also encourages Lulu's suppliers to join the National In-Country Value (ICV) Program.

MoIAT and Lulu will organize workshops for suppliers to explain the benefits of joining the ICV Program and getting the Made in the Emirates mark.

MoIAT Undersecretary Omar Al Suwaidi explained that the MoU reflects the ministry's efforts to work with leading companies and create a business-friendly environment for both local and international investors.

Al Suwaidi said that the UAE's policies, legislation, financing, and initiatives support growth and offer investors incentives to turn their businesses into national success stories.

He also mentioned that MoIAT works closely with both the public and private sectors to strengthen partnerships, promote growth in the industrial sector, improve competitiveness, and open new opportunities for businesses and investments.

Lulu Retail CEO Saifee Rupawala said that Lulu Hypermarkets is fully dedicated to supporting the "Make it in the Emirates" initiative by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

The company will collaborate closely with manufacturers, government authorities, and its stores across the UAE to promote locally made products. This campaign will take place throughout December and will be held annually.
