Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will be the first sitting UAE president to make an official visit to Washington

The UAE provided AED 360 billion (US$98 billion) in foreign aid by mid-2024 since its establishment in 1971, helping with reducing poverty, helping during disasters and crises, supporting economic and social growth, and promoting global stability and peace.

In 2024, the UAE continued to lead global humanitarian efforts, emphasizing international solidarity and cooperation. Giving and humanitarian solidarity have become key values of the country, which celebrated the 53rd anniversary of Eid Al Etihad on Dec. 2, WAM reported.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan this year launched the AED 20 billion Erth Zayed Philanthropies as part of the UAE's commitment to positively impacting communities and people's lives. The initiative aims to support sustainable development, growth, security, and stability, improving lives globally, empowering individuals, and promoting prosperity and stability in communities.

In addition, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, introduced the Mothers' Endowment campaign aiming to honor mothers in the UAE by creating an AED 1 billion fund to provide long-term support for the education of millions of people worldwide.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced that the UAE would allocate US$100 million through the UAE Aid Agency to help fight hunger and poverty globally, reinforcing the country's commitment to sustainable development and international peace.

Moreover, the "Reaching the Last Mile" health initiative pledged AED 55 million to the Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE), marking its second contribution since the Institute's 2019 launch.

In response to Lebanon's ongoing challenges, the president authorized a US$100 million relief package to support the Lebanese people. As part of the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign, the UAE recently dispatched its 18th aircraft, delivering 40 tons of medical supplies, along with a ship carrying 2,000 tons of urgent relief.

Additionally, the UAE provided a US$30 million aid package to displaced Lebanese individuals in Syria.

In September, the UAE announced US$10.25 million in humanitarian projects for women affected by the conflict in Sudan, through the UN in Chad. In April 2024, the UAE pledged US$100 million to support humanitarian efforts in Sudan and its neighboring countries.

The UAE also committed US$50 million to the second phase of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund 2.0 (LLF 2.0), a development initiative designed to assist IsDB member countries in reducing poverty.

Furthermore, the UAE president directed medical treatment for 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza at UAE hospitals. The Ministry of Defense launched the "Birds of Goodness" operation to deliver aid to accessible areas in Gaza, demonstrating the UAE's unwavering commitment to humanitarian assistance.
