The Arab Organisation for Administrative Development (AOAD) and the Sharjah Award for Public Finance (SAPF) have teamed up for the First Arab Financial Forum in Egypt, which is happening from Dec. 24 to 25.

During the event, participants will discuss public finance to address contemporary challenges and exchange knowledge and experiences among countries to strengthen Arab nations' ability to deal with contemporary issues.

Nasser Al Hatlan Al Qahtani, director-general of AOAD, said that the forum also aims to "adopt new policies that enhance public financial management to better meet societal aspirations and develop work in the government sector, amidst emerging challenges and circumstances," WAM reported.

The First Arab Financial Forum will have six main themes, including integrated budget management, the impact of financial and economic policies on public finance, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, improving government spending efficiency, transparency and anti-corruption and distinguished experiences.

Salem Youssef Al Qaseer, chairman of the board of trustees of the SAPF, gave credit to Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah, for launching the forum.

He said the Ruler of Sharjah wants to "empower and coordinate efforts with various governmental entities and institutions in the Arab region," as it will "promote the best experiences and successful applications in public finance management."

Furthermore, this forum will lead Arab countries toward "comprehensive and sustainable development in all its forms and dimensions, and ultimately achieving a true economy that builds an integrated system motivated by awareness and knowledge to achieve and sustain societal prosperity."

The forum will be attended by ministers and heads of governmental bodies in ministries and financial entities in Arab countries, alongside researchers and specialists in public finance, budget management, accounting, internal control, auditing and review.

Professionals working in the financial and banking sectors, employees in investment institutions and sovereign funds and all professionals in the field of public finance will also participate in the event.

AOAD was established in 1970 but started its operations in 1972. It was created under the umbrella of the League of Arab States. SAPF, on the other hand, was established in 2016 by the government of Sharjah to honor innovation and excellence in public finance management.
