The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced a new initiative called the Golden Package to simplify the registration and operation of private and business aircraft. The announcement was made on the sidelines of MEBAA 2024.

Aqeel Al Zarouni, Assistant Director-General for Aviation Safety Affairs, said that the initiative included innovative steps to make processes easier, improve flexibility and strengthen the UAE's position as a leading global aviation hub, WAM reported.

The Golden Package includes improvements to over 24 services related to private aircraft operations and registration. It shortens the time required to issue an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from two years to 90 days and allows Air Operating Authorizations (AOA) to be completed in just 60 days.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, highlighted the authority's work with government agencies and private sector partners to improve civil aviation services. These efforts support the UAE's goal of being a global leader in aviation and air transport.

Al Suwaidi also pointed out that the private aviation sector has grown rapidly worldwide, driven by increasing personal wealth, changing business travel needs and a rising demand for luxury travel.

The UAE's strategic location and top-tier infrastructure make it an ideal hub for the growing private aviation market, offering significant opportunities for growth and success. The Golden Package for Private and Business Aircraft Registration includes a complete overhaul of procedures for air operations and aircraft registration.

This initiative aims to drive growth in the private aviation sector by simplifying processes, improving flexibility and supporting sustainable development.

Key features of the package include the establishment of a Business Aviation Advisory Council, a "One-Stop Shop" for all aviation processes, personalized aircraft registration codes, and the option for operators to manage aircraft independently at lower costs.

It also introduces measures like 100% ownership rights, removing the need for local partnerships, and allowing operations with just one aircraft.

The package also makes aircraft registration more flexible by removing age limits, simplifying maintenance procedures, and speeding up the validation of pilot licenses. It was developed after thorough studies and consultations with regional and international stakeholders to ensure it aligns with the UAE's high standards for safety and operational excellence.
