UAE President Sheikh Mohamed has met with Bahrain Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting was held Wednesday at the Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi, during which Sheikh Mohamed and Salman discussed the longstanding ties between the UAE and Bahrain and the importance of furthering their ties for the benefit of their people.

Salman also conveyed to Sheikh Mohamed the continued support of Bahrain's King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in furthering their bilateral cooperation.

For his part, the Emirati president acknowledged the longstanding relations between the UAE and Bahrain and reiterated their shared commitment to furthering their cooperation. He also extended his greetings to King Hamad, conveying his best wishes for success for the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Sheikh Mohamed then reviewed with Salman the current regional and international issues concerning the UAE and Bahrain and discussed initiatives that will help address those issues.

The meeting comes two weeks after King Hamad met with Sheikh Mohamed in Abu Dhabi to discuss historical ties between the UAE and Bahrain. During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed cooperation across various fields that will benefit the GCC and the whole of the Arab region.

The UAE has been a longtime trade partner of Bahrain. Last year, Bahrain took a major step forward with its participation in the Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development, joining the UAE, Egypt, and Jordan. The move is expected to bolster the gross domestic product of Bahrain and other participating countries in the coalition, which also represents the biggest group of raw aluminum exporters in the world.

The meeting on Wednesday was attended by senior ministers and officials from both countries.

Among those in attendance were UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed; Minister of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed; and Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in Al Ain Region Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed, the National News reported.

The deputy chairman of Abu Dhabi's Executive Council, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, also joined the meeting alongside chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed and representatives of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office and several other ministers and sheikhs. Bahrain's royal guard commander, Major General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, was also in attendance.
