The fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is all set to provide clean energy to 320,000 residences in the city and reduce carbon emissions.

The fourth phase of the Solar Park was inspected by the MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer.

Dubai Media Office's official X handle shared a video of the Solar Park, revealing that "this phase uses the Independent Power Producer model with investments up to AED 15.78 billion" on Tuesday.

It added, "It is set to provide clean energy for approximately 320k residences and reduce carbon emissions by 1.6 million tonnes annually."

Noor Energy is responsible for implementing the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park and during the visit, Al Tayer was briefed by Noor Energy officials regarding the project's progress.

The fourth phase is the largest single-site project that combines Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and photovoltaic technology. The first phase of construction was completed covering 100% of 100MW from the solar tower, 200MW from the parabolic basin complex, and 217MW from photovoltaic solar panels, as per WAM.

Whereas, the second phase covers 98.5 percent of 200MW from the parabolic basin complex. Considering the third phase, it consists of 200MW from the parabolic basin complex and 33MW from photovoltaic solar panels. This phase is 87.1 percent completed.

Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation; Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power; Yousef Jebril, Executive Vice President of Power, Water and Planning; Mohammad Jame, Acting Vice President of Clean Energy and Diversification, as well as other DEWA officials accompanied Al Tayer during the visit.

ACWA Power and DEWA established Noor Energy company to design, build, and operate the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. While DEWA has 51 percent of stake in the company, ACWA Power holds 25 percent and 24 percent belongs to the Chinese Silk Road Fund.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the world's largest single-site solar park that will be generating 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030. This Solar Park is one of the essential projects under the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy.

Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 aims to produce the maximum energy required in the city from clean sources including wind power, hydropower, solar, hydroelectricity, tidal energy, bioenergy, biomass, geothermal, biogas, biofuel, nuclear power plant, and more.
