Dubai ruler and Prime Minister of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has appointed his son, the emirate's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE in a cabinet reshuffle.

Additionally, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, was also appointed as Deputy Prime Minister.

The restructuring includes important changes to the UAE's education system and new appointments for a Minister of Sports and a Minister of State for Entrepreneurship.

During the announcement, Sheikh Mohammed called Sheikh Hamdan "a true supporter."

"He is a leader who loves people and is loved by them. We have high confidence that he will be a valuable addition to the UAE government and a major contributor to shaping the future of the UAE," the Dubai ruler was cited as saying by WAM.

"We also announce the reconstruction of the Education, Human Resources and Community Development Council under the chairmanship of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Vice Chairperson Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan," he added.

The UAE prime minister further announced the integration of the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE) and the Federal Agency of Early Education with the Ministry of Education and the appointment of Sarah Al Amiri as the UAE's Minister of Education.

Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will chair the Quality of Education Center, while Sheikh Abdullah will lead the Education Council, with Sheikha Mariam as Vice Chairperson, ensuring stability and continuity in educational plans and strategies.

The council will oversee national human capital development from early childhood through general and higher education to employment and Emiratization.

The prime minister noted that the council will ultimately support "stable families capable of raising generations that are attached to their identity, preserving the values of their society, and keeping pace with all future scientific and technological changes."

Sheikh Mohammed also announced Sarah Al Amiri as the UAE's Minister of Education and Abdulrahman Al Awar as acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to his current post as Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization.

Ahmad Belhoul was appointed as Minister of Sports and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology, in addition to his duties as Chairman of the UAE Space Agency.
