The UAE government has undergone a reshuffle, leading to the establishment of a new "Ministry of Family" and elevating the Ministry of Community Development to the Ministry of Community Empowerment.

The newly established Ministry of Family, headed by Sana bint Mohammad Suhail, will address family-related challenges by developing policies, legislation, and programs. It will focus on priorities such as promoting family stability, increasing family formation, and boosting fertility rates in the UAE, WAM reported.

These efforts are part of a broader vision to increase family formation in the UAE, foster growth, empower families, and strengthen their cohesion and stability, while also boosting fertility rates.

"The new ministry will take charge of this vital mission by developing legislation, policies, and programs to address these challenges. This task is not the ministry's alone. It is a shared responsibility involving parents, ministries, entities, as well as the public and private sectors," said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

"Families form the solid nucleus of our society, and their strength ensures the cohesion of our communities. We call on everyone to contribute to the empowerment and support of families, and we anticipate significant positive developments in this critical area in the coming period," he added.

As part of the government reshuffle, the Ministry of Community Development has been upgraded to the Ministry of Community Empowerment, which will be led by Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui.

"The ministry will adopt a pioneering and integrated community empowerment model designed to amplify community participation and unlock the potential of every individual," said the UAE Prime Minister.

"The ministry will oversee the social support system and empowerment programs, providing a safety net for low-income families and tailored pathways to improve their quality of life and foster their financial independence," he added.

The ruler of Dubai said the Ministry of Community Empowerment will play an important role in regulating the third sector and enhancing the role of not-for-profit organizations, which will help create a lasting social impact and contribute to the nation's progress.

The Education, Human Development and Community Development Council - led by Abdullah bin Zayed and Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed - will oversee the development of strategies for family and community empowerment.

This will ensure alignment between the new ministries' plans and connect them with education and human development in a unified vision.

The journey in the UAE is seen as interconnected, starting from birth and continuing through education, career paths, family growth, and contributions to the community and country. Al Maktoum expressed his best wishes to those starting their new roles, emphasizing that these changes will help the country reach its goals.
