UAE And Vietnam Leaders Meet To Boost Economic And Cultural Ties
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan convened with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday to enhance bilateral cooperation and foster mutual progress and prosperity between the two nations.
The meeting was held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where Sheikh Mohamed warmly welcomed Prime Minister Chinh. He expressed his optimism that the visit would significantly strengthen UAE-Vietnam relations, benefiting both countries in a spirit of partnership and collaboration.
Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan also attended the meeting.
The President of the UAE and the Prime Minister of Vietnam engaged in discussions to enhance the longstanding partnership between their nations. They focused on exploring collaboration in key areas, including economy, trade, investment, culture, climate action, and renewable energy, all aimed at advancing sustainable development goals for both countries.
Sheikh Mohamed and the Vietnamese Prime Minister also shared their views on several regional and international issues they both care about, WAM reported. They highlighted both countries' commitment to supporting peace and stability by using diplomatic solutions and peaceful approaches to handle conflicts and disputes locally and globally.
Both leaders agreed that a stable, peaceful, and cooperative environment is essential for the development and well-being of nations and their people.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his country's desire to strengthen cooperation with the UAE and find new opportunities for economic and trade partnerships that benefit both nations and meet the hopes of their people for the future.
He also thanked the UAE for the warm welcome he and his delegation received during their visit. The Prime Minister wrote a message in the VIP guestbook at Qasr Al Watan, sharing his happiness about visiting the UAE and his hopes for ongoing progress and growth in UAE-Vietnam relations.
A luncheon was held in honor of the Vietnamese Prime Minister and his delegation. Several ministers and senior officials from both countries attended the meeting and luncheon.
Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to strengthening its relationship with Vietnam, which began with the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1993, in ways that support both countries' interests and meet their peoples' goals for growth and prosperity.
The UAE President pointed out the ongoing growth in economic and trade relations between the UAE and Vietnam. Last year, non-oil trade between the two countries reached $12.12 billion, a 38.7% increase compared to 2022.
He also emphasized the UAE's commitment, as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner with the ASEAN group, to improving its economic and trade partnerships with Vietnam, which is the UAE's biggest non-oil trading partner among ASEAN countries.
