Flydubai airline announced new direct flights to two destinations in Iran. Starting from Sept. 7, there will be four flights a week to Kish Island, and from Sept. 9, there will be two flights a week to Kerman.

The flights to Kish Island and Kerman will operate from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB), and Emirates will also be offering these routes, providing more travel choices through Dubai's aviation hub.

The flights to Kish Island will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights to Kerman will operate twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

"We have continued to look for opportunities to open up underserved markets and so we are pleased to offer our customers more convenient options for travel to Iran," said Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at Flydubai, according to WAM.

"Flydubai is dedicated to creating free flows of trade and tourism and with Kerman and Kish Island as our newest destinations, we look forward to providing our passengers more opportunities to explore our extensive network," he added.

The airline currently operates flights to more than 125 destinations, with 90 of them being underserved markets that did not previously have direct air links to Dubai. From today, flydubai has started daily flights to Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan.

Flydubai will also start operating flights to Basel, Switzerland, from Aug. 2; Riga, Latvia, from Oct. 11, Tallinn, Estonia; and Vilnius, Lithuania, from Oct. 12.

The UAE-based airlines are increasing direct flights across the world. Earlier this year, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed 2024 by introducing two new services to the Indian state of Kerala to expand its global network.

The airline commenced daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram on New Year's Day. These new non-stop services bring the total number of Indian gateways served by Etihad to 10, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.

Etihad Airways also confirmed that it will continue to expand its operations by adding new destinations and increasing the frequency of its flights to key locations this year.

Additionally, earlier this year, Dubai won the No. 1 Tourist Destination award at Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best 2024. The Middle Eastern city has received the same award for three consecutive years.
