Xposure 2025 Announces 4th Conservation Summit On 'Migration And Ecosystem Impact'

The 9th Xposure International Photography Festival announced the fourth edition of its Conservation Summit, set for Feb. 24 under the "Migration and Ecosystem Impact" theme.
The global event celebrating top visual storytellers will bring together photographers, conservationists, scientists, and advocates. They will highlight how migration plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring species survival across land, air, and sea.
Climate Change and Environment Minister Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi expressed her excitement for participating in the upcoming Conservation Summit at Xposure, WAM reported.
She praised the festival for using photography and the arts to address environmental challenges, emphasizing how these mediums inspire artists and photographers worldwide.
Al Shamsi also emphasized that hosting a conservation summit at Xposure contributes to the UAE's efforts in raising awareness about endangered species and the importance of migration in maintaining ecosystems.
She reiterated that protecting nature and ensuring environmental balance are collective responsibilities and recognized Xposure as a key platform for promoting environmental awareness and supporting a sustainable future in harmony with nature.
The summit will feature three insightful talks and presentations on migration across different ecosystems.
In "The Global Life of Shorebirds," wildlife photographer, cinematographer, and conservationist Gerrit Vyn will explore the incredible journeys of shorebirds, some of which complete the longest non-stop flights of any bird species.
Environmental storyteller and conservationist Jaime Rojo will present "Saving the Monarchs," highlighting the sharp decline of monarch butterflies, whose population has dropped by 90% in the past 30 years.
In "The Bigger Picture: Conservation Implications of Ocean Migrations," marine conservationist and environmental photojournalist Ralph Pace will discuss how ocean migrations support marine ecosystems and help reduce the effects of climate change.
Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, highlighted the role of photography in bringing attention to environmental crises and turning them into global discussions.
He said that photography and films go beyond documentation — they serve as powerful tools for raising awareness and inspiring change. He explained that Xposure uses visual storytelling to highlight urgent environmental issues, encouraging conversations and prompting immediate action.
Allay invited conservationists, scientists, photographers, filmmakers, and the public to take part in this global discussion and contribute to meaningful change.
